Chinese …

@moridrie
Chinese train their top players when they were children. For many years of intense training Chinese players do basic strokes as instincts. This play is a perfect example. Ma Lin power-drove the ball ‘on or close to table’ when the ball was lower than the net and he smashed almost every ball higher than the net ‘on or close to table’. This is not a skill known to Samsonov’, nor to Boll. And this is Chinese players’ kill.

I dont like …
I dont like Samsonov but he played this match very well.
I think Ma didnt use the right tactics in this match.
Sam. has a very bad service return from his forhand side, Ma could use it quiet well for his serve and finishing spin game style.
By the way, samsonov made some strange kinds of serve this time, his regular serve is a lot better.

@smiletogreet …
@smiletogreet samsonov is among the top 10 players in the world for almost two decades, if you think he is miserable for that you are a fool.

so what if ma lin is better than him? there is always someone better, there always will be… i’m sure samsonov is more than happy with his TT career and i bet you would give an arm and a leg to be as “miserable” as him.

@tyoungos

why …
@tyoungos

why should Ma lin or Samsonov retire? table tennis is also about tactics, not just about the power play of younger players, and Ma lin and Samsonov are the best tacticians, also, the younger players should earn their top positions, having everyone retire to give the younger players higher positions is really stupid

Posted by | November 24th, 2010 à 1:19 pm

What do you mean? …
What do you mean? That they retire and leave the world without its #3 and #6 (January 2010)?
They are still the very very best of the world. Why would anyone, in any discipline, retire under this condition? Just because maybe you are already bored of seeing them winning and winning?
